Everybody seems to have Snapchat right now, but apart from cool filters and instant messenger features, what else is interesting about this app? Check out the top ten facts below!
1. Drinks are a popular feature.
According to recent statistics, a staggering 93% of Snapchat users have sent a picture to somebody else of their drink! Over 60% sent pictures of people they don’t even know.
2. It’s been beaten only by Facebook.
Snapchat has become so popular now that Facebook is the only rival which can beat it. Snapchat regularly ranks at number 2, just behind our favourite social networking app.
3. Best friends or no best friends?
Snapchat users went slightly crazy in 2015 when the ‘best friends’ feature was taken away. Prior to this update, users could see the best friends of other users. 64% of people still want the ‘best friends’ list to come back.
4. If at first you don’t succeed, try again!
The founders, Evan Spiegel, Reggie Brown Poster and Bobby Murphy, had tried 34 projects before coming up with the idea of Snapchat. Their idea was criticised, but it’s a good job they didn’t listen!
5. It’s original name was Picaboo.
When it first started in 2011, it was named Picaboo, but in 2012, it was renamed to Snapchat.
6. There are more than 7 billion pictures and videos per day.
As of 2016, there are over 7 billion pictures and videos which are viewed every single day by Snapchat users. This amount increased from 2 billion in May 2015.
7. Filters are one of the most popular features.
In 2015, Snapchat introduced a variety of filters which users could add to their pictures and videos. This is thought to have contributed to the increase in popularity for the app.
8. Women like it more than men do.
70% of the people using Snapchat are female, leaving just 30% from the male population. As of 2014, over half of the users are between the ages of 13 and 17.
9. Evan Spiegel and Taylor Swift?
Between 2014 and 2015, co-founder Evan Spiegel and pop singer Taylor Swift reportedly had a romance. Has she written a song about him yet though?!
10. Facebook really wants Snapchat…
Mark Zuckerberg first offered a billion dollars for Snapchat, but when he was declined, he came back with a $3 billion offer. Rejected once again, he returned the next day, promising a cheque for $4 billion. His offer wasn’t accepted.

There's always been a debate, Apple or Android. The heavy hitter and global superpower; Apple, versus the widely used, customizable and in some weird way lesser; Android. Is this the case though? I myself have always been an avid fan and user of Android’s OS and personally don’t see the hype that surrounds the Apple world, don’t burn me at the stake it’s merely an opinion! Today we’re here to look at 25 amazing facts about this undeniably successful and impressive piece of software. It has to be that good if the big boys of the smartphone world are even using it; Google, HTC, LG and Samsung to name a few. Let’s begin!
1. In 2004, the Android OS was developed with the backing of Google by Android Inc. In 2005, Google paid $50 million for the OS.
2. Originally the Android OS wasn’t designed for the smartphone market; it was actually developed as a digital camera platform.
3. All Android versions, with the exception of Android 1.0 & 1.1, are named after confectionary and desserts i.e. Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich and KitKat.
4. In November 2007, Google launched the Linux based software system; Android OS.
5. The first smartphone running Android was released in 2008, the HTC Dream or T-Mobile G1 depending on your country, it had a sliding keyboard .
6. Android has over a billion activations on devices including tablets and of course smartphones.

8. At CES 2011 Android 3.0 Honeycomb was debuted on the Motorola XOOM. It was completely redesigned for tablets and never ran on smartphones. Honeycomb was a huge failure.
9. Android’s significance in the mobile market was perfectly realized in 2009 when Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, was forced to resign from Apple’s board of directors due to a conflict of interest and his inability to be involved in Apple’s developments and future plans.
